Free and Subsidised Meals For Councillors

The request was successful.

Dear Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council,

Before certain Council meetings, eg full Council, many Councillors are fed within Oldbury Council House.

1 How many free meals are budgeted to be provided for Councillors per annum;

2 How many subsidised meals are supplied to Councillors per annum and what is the annual cost of the subsidy?

Yours faithfully,

Julian Saunders

Dear Mr Julian Saunders,

Information Request - FS-Case-68432685

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. In response to your
request I can confirm the following:

Before certain Council meetings, e.g. full Council, many Councillors are
fed within Oldbury Council House. Q1 How many free meals are budgeted to
be provided for Councillors per annum; A1 The Council does not keep a
record of the numbers of meals taken by councillors at a proportion of
meetings, or provide a specific dedicated budget. However, the total cost
of food provided at such meetings (from Jan 2017 to Feb 2018) was
equivalent to £69 per annum per councillor Q2 How many subsidised meals
are supplied to Councillors per annum and what is the annual cost of the
subsidy? A2 On the understanding that by subsidy you are referring to any
contributions required from Councillors, then the answer is none.
