information released in response to a request is regarded as being

Request

Peterborough city centre on the 25 and 26th of February 2016.

Response

Below is the authority that was given for the weekend of the 26^th and
27^th February 2016, we did not put a dispersal on for the 25th February
2016.

Inspectors Dispersal Authority

Boundary of dispersal area:

Burghley Road – Monument Street – Eastfield Road – St John’s Street –
Bishops Road – East Footpath along Peterborough Crown Court incorporating
Key Theatre to River Embankment – North Side of River Nene West to Railway
Bridge – East Side Rail Line North to Thorpe Road Bridge – North along
East side of railway boundary incorporating Peterborough Railway Station
and New Waitrose Supermarket – East along lower Mayors Walk – Bright
Street – Lincoln Road North to Burghley Road.

Ward code(s): P32A P33A P34A

Dispersal authority starts (max duration of 48 hours)

Date: 26/02/2016

Time: 20:00

Dispersal authority ends

Date: 27/02/2016

Time: 06:00

Grounds for authority:

I have reviewed the data and information for the forthcoming dates and
anticipate an increase in visitors to the city centre due to being a
payday weekend, which increases the potential for crime and disorder.
Also, there were six recorded crimes for assault raised for the City
Centre last weekend, which was not a payday weekend.

I have considered and explored other options and solutions to negate the
requirement for this authority, but due to the dynamics around the night
economy and anticipated concentration of the public in the area designated
this is the most practical and less intrusive authority available to
achieve reduce the risk of crime and disorder at this time.

Linked to: ASB

Reason requested: Police tactic

Authority given?: Yes

Authorising Officer: (1380) Kate Firman

The dispersal authorities don't appear to reference the law they are made under.
