Medical Records for Sir Henry O'Neil De Hane

Department of Health and Social Care did not have the information requested.

Dear Department of Health,

My name is Debbie Lowe and I am developing a four part TV series about Sir Henry O'Neil De Hane Segrave. He fought in World War One as first an officer on the ground, and then for the Royal Flying Corps, until he was invalided out in 1916 by an accident in which he caused some serious damage to his foot. He then went onto break both the land and water speed records in the following years.

I am very keen to get hold of his medical records from July 1916 when he returned to the UK until his death in 1930- I am keen to understand the progress on his foot, and any other health issues that may have been concerning him.

Any advice would be gratefully received - and as ever in this world, I am running to rather a tight deadline and so anything you can offer at your earliest convenience would be wonderful.

Thank you so much, and hoping to her from you soon,

Debbie.

Dear Ms Lowe,

Thank you for your correspondence of 26 June about accessing medical
records.  I have been asked to reply.

The Department of Health does not have access to patients' medical
records, which are held by the GP surgery or hospital where a patient has
received treatment.  However, it is unlikely that Sir Henry O'Neil De
Hane's medical records have been retained due to their age.

I am sorry that I cannot be more helpful.
Yours sincerely,

Neil Crowder
