Cyber security incidents

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department for Work and Pensions should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I’m writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:

1. How many cyber security incidents* did the Department for Work and Pensions record between:

• 1st January 2022 and 31st December 2018?
• 1st January 2022 and 31st December 2019?
• 1st January 2022 and 31st December 2020?
• 1st January 2022 and 31st December 2021?
• 1st January 2022 and 31st December 2022?

2. Where possible, please indicate the types of incidents (e.g., denial of service, malware, ransomware, phishing attack, etc.).

*The National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC) defines a cyber security incident as either:

• A breach of a system's security policy in order to affect its integrity or availability
• The unauthorized access or attempted access to a system
