Youth Court Backlog

The request was successful.

Dear HM Courts and Tribunals Service,

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I am requesting information on Youth Courts and the court backlog.

Please could you tell me:
1) The case backlog in the English and Welsh Youth Courts, for each quarter in the most recent five years for which data is available
2) The above, broken down by individual Youth Court.

For clarity, we are defining the ‘backlog’ as the number of cases waiting to be heard or completed. However, if you have an alternative definition, we would appreciate this being clarified and would still request backlog data defined in your terms.

If any parts of the data requested are exempt under FOIA, please respond to as much of my request as possible.

Please let me know if I can clarify any of these questions further, or help in any way to make this request easier or quicker to answer.

Yours sincerely,

Gideon Leibowitz

Dear HMCTS,

In accordance with your response, I am refining my response to request annual rather than quarterly data.

To clarify, I am asking the following :
1) The case backlog in the English and Welsh Youth Courts, for each of the last three years for which data is available.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you so much for your reply - it is greatly appreciated.

I am writing now to request the same information, but going back for the past 10 years (or as far back until 2013, for which years data are available)

To clarify, I am now asking the following:

1) The case backlog in the English and Welsh Youth Courts, for each of the last ten years for which data is available.

Thank you for your help.

Yours sincerely,

Gideon Leibowitz
