For Info:

There is a Compelling Public Interest relating to this case.....

Newcastle Crown Court heard how the informant, known only as XY, was paid almost £10,000 to provide information to detectives.

He was recruited as a Covert Human Intelligence Source - or ‘CHIS’ - despite drugging an underage girl and inviting another man to rape her after he had done so in the past.

The NSPCC’s lead expert on tackling child sexual abuse, Jon Brown, said the charity is horrified by the decision.

“We are appalled to learn that police paid a child rapist and planted him in the midst of vulnerable young girls. You just couldn’t make it up,” he said.

“It beggars belief that it would ever have been considered, let alone approved, and serious questions must be asked about the force’s approach to child sexual exploitation operations.
