Dear Janet Eastham

Freedom of Information Request ENQ-560491-B1V8W5

I refer to your request for information dated 13 May 2022.

You asked:

Q1. During the month of April 2022, how many council employees were
working from home, and what percentage of the office based workforce does
this represent?

Our response:         Norfolk County Council does not hold this
information.

Employees are either hybrid workers (can work from a mix of remotely and
at their Council workplace), mobile (work in the community at clients
homes or premises) or fixed base (work from a Norfolk County Council
building like a library or museum). Managers agree with team members how
often they work remotely and at their workplace subject to business needs.

Q2. Between 1st and 30th April 2022, how many desk bookings were made
across the council's office buildings and, on average, how many desk
bookings were there a day during this month?

Our response 2, 3 & 5:

The County Council do not use a booking app or desk booking system that
can tie attendances to desks or hold records of available desks at council
offices. As detailed at Q1, staff are able to work from a number of
council buildings across the county, including libraries, museums, depots
and fire service buildings.  Norfolk County Council therefore does not
hold the information you have requested.

Q3. How many desks were available for use in the month April 2022 across
the council's office buildings?

Our response:

Norfolk County Council does not hold this information – see response
explanation at Q2 above.

Q4. What was the maximum number of office staff who could theoretically
work in the office on any given day in April 2022?

Our response:

It has been estimated that theoretically a maximum of 6,700 people could
potentially come into work, on any given day.  The County Council does not
record the number of staff who are able to attend work on any given day
and the theoretical figure has been estimated based on current employees,
full–time and part time, less average sickness absence. This methodology
assumes that all working days are covered equally, which will not be the
case, and also some staff are not officed based at all, or very
infrequently, due to their individual roles and the requirements of the
service they work within.

Q5. What was the total number of office staff who worked in your council's
offices each day prior to the pandemic?

Our response:

Norfolk County Council does not hold this information – see response
explanation at Q2 above.
