Dear Janet Eastham,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information Request. Maldon District Council is making decisions each day to balance the needs to maintain essential services and support those in most need, whilst following public health guidance to protect the public and staff against infection from Coronavirus (COVID-19). Due to the unprecedented circumstances we are facing during the pandemic, it may not be possible for us to meet our usual standard of response to Freedom of Information Requests or within the timescales stipulated. The Council will respond to your request as soon as we are able. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this difficult and unprecedented period. The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has also published information on their website www.ico.org.uk.

Q1. During the month of April 2022, how many council employees were
working from home, and what percentage of the office based workforce does
this represent?
Accurate figures can not be provided as we do not monitor the daily number
of staff working from home.
Q2. Between 1st and 30th April 2022, how many desk bookings were made
across the council's office buildings and, on average, how many desk
bookings were there a day during this month?
658 and 35
Q3. How many desks were available for use in the month April 2022 across
the council's office buildings?
41 set up with functionality as hot desks
Q4. What was the maximum number of office staff who could theoretically
work in the office on any given day in April 2022?
If meeting rooms are used and break out areas then all our staff could
work from the office for a short period
Q5. What was the total number of office staff who worked in your council's
offices each day prior to the pandemic?
This was not recorded but the majority of staff worked in the office with
some occasional home working
If you are not satisfied with our response to your request, please let us
know. If we are unable to resolve the matter quickly then you may wish to
pursue this through the Councils complaints procedure and request an
internal review of the decision. A request for an internal review must be
submitted within two months of receiving our response to your request.
