interface design will be included in this package to ensure that the design is intuitive. The primary output will be as lists of 
patients and relevant variables. Simple plotting of the output will be required using template establishes in R1.

requirement: 

Develop an enhancement to the handling of medications in OpenEyes. 

The OpenEyes solution must be compliant with the DM+D standards, to the Virtual Medicinal Product (VMP) level. 

Production of a new import routine and changes to the existing search functions. It will include combining the formulary and 
'medications' tables into 1.  

Use of the existing API from DMD would be advantageous. This should be able to provide AMP/DM+D details.  

It should be possible for instances to be updated from the DM+D dataset regularly and without much (or any) manual input 
(e.g. a cron job).  

It should be possible to search by brand name. The route and recommended frequency of medication use can be pulled from 
the DM+D API.  

Thought and design should be given to the future need to integrate with other larger EPR systems for prescribing (e.g. 
Allscripts SCM).

DM+D. The requirement: 
 

Development new OpenEyes element to allow medications to be managed.  

This element is separate from the existing medications element and be used to drive prescriptions. The current medication 
element only describes the medications used and cannot be used to change the medications.  

The medication management event is critical to updating the time of use for medications in Oescape glaucoma and medical 
retina. It also puts in place the frame work to provide alerts for adverse drug interactions.  

It should provide a feature to reconcile the medications notated in the existing medications elements and turn them into 
authorised items.  

This work should allow medication lists to be pulled (and reconciled) from various sources, including the Spine / Summary 
Care Record and other EPR systems (e.g Allscripts)

Improvements to the laser features in OpenEyes to add the following areas of functionality: 
 

Laser procedures can be added as letter short codes. 

Laser procedures visible in the patient summary pop-up• Reduction of duplication in the laser management child elements 
and the laser ‘op note’ (child elements will be deprecated in UI3.0). 

Ability for units to manage all laser operators, laser machines (including dual machines) and procedure types and orders in 
the admin interface. 
The laser ‘op note’ should have additional fields:  
 

Ability to handle ‘argon’ laser pre-treatment of an iridotomy;   

The number of shots per eye; The range of power settings used 

The duration of shots 

The spot size/s 

The number of spots 

The lens used 
(Not all laser types will need all fields – this should be configurable from the admin interface. Free text should be supported) 
 

It should be possible to run reports of laser procedures and supervisors. 
-  Glaucoma (iridocorneal) lasers procedures should be supported with an appropriate doodle (to cover Goniopuncture and
