Dear Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council,
It is now two years and counting, since work began on reflagging Newport St.
In what year do you think that the work shy contractors will finish the job ??

Re Knowlsley St.
It seems that you have plans to improve this street. Will you be employing the same work shy people ?? If so will it be finished by year 2100??

Yours faithfully,
R E Richardson.

Dear Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Work in progess'.

[ GIVE DETAILS ABOUT YOUR COMPLAINT HERE ]
The information I have received is very sparse and unsatisfactory. the speed the contractors on Newport St are working at, between their shopping trips, is slow to say the least. The work, at their speed on Newport St will not be finished by 2017
I would like a proper and realistic answer to my question and not the typical fob off we are used to from Bolton council officers.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/w...

Yours faithfully,

Richardson

NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED

Dear R. E. Richardson

I write further to your request for an internal review of your information
request as you consider that the information provided to you is very
sparse and unsatisfactory.

When responding to request made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
the Council is required to provide any information which it holds, unless
an exemption applies.

In this case you requested:

1.    In which year that the reflagging work on Newport Street will be
completed

2.    Whether the Council intends to use the same contractor to carry out
work on Knowsley Street and if so whether the work will be completed by
2100

As you have been advised in our response:

1.   The work is scheduled to be completed in 2017

2.   The Knowsley Street scheme does not yet have approval and as such
information regarding who will carry out the work and the date of
completion is not held

With regards to your comments that “the speed the contractors on Newport
St are working at, between their shopping trips, is slow to say the least.
The work, at their speed on Newport St will not be finished by 2017 I
would like a proper and realistic answer to my question and not the
typical fob off we are used to from Bolton council officers.”, your
dissatisfaction with the way in which the work has been carried out on
Newport Street, the length of time it has taken and the fact that you
disagree that it will be completed this year is not something that can be
addressed under the Freedom of Information Act but would need to be
considered under the Council’s formal complaints procedure.

Therefore, please confirm if you wish us to carry out an internal review
of your information request.

If you wish to make a formal complaint regarding the work on Newport
Street you can do so by:

Dear McDonna, Ann,
They have completed the ground work survey on Newport ST some weeks ago and every one including the councillors know the "improvements" are going to go ahead so some one in the town hall will know or have an idea of timing of the job.

As for the finish date of Newport St with 3 months to go !!!
It is about time some one from Bolton council took the contractor to task.

Yours sincerely,

Richardson

NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED

Dear R. E. Richardson,

Thank you for your email.

As previously advised, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 applies to
information which is recorded.  It does not apply to information which has
been discussed but not written down, or that is "in someone's head"
therefore although there may well have been discussions concerning works
on Knowsley Street this does not necessarily mean that information is held
which addresses your question.   However, I will record your request for
an internal review and pass this on to be processed in due course.

With regards to your view that the contractor carrying out the work on
Newport Street should be "taken to task", as outlined in my previous email
this is not something that falls within the remit of the Freedom of
Information Act.  If you wish this matter to be addressed you will need to
submit a formal complaint:
