Dear Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman,

I require information on your work experience opportunities:

1. For the year 2016/17, how many individuals applied for work experience opportunities at:

i. Your London office; and
ii. your Manchester office.

2. For the year 2016/17, how many individuals were offered work placements at:

i. Your London office; and
ii. your Manchester office.

3. For the year 2016/17, of those individuals offered work placements how many took them up at:

i. Your London office; and
ii. your Manchester office.

4. For each office, please provide the number of students who were:

i. Taking post -16 courses;
ii. undergraduates; and
iii. postgraduates.

5. In respect of all students who took up offers of work experience during 2016/17, how much was paid in travel expenses in respect of:

i. Your London office; and
ii. Your Manchester office.

6. For the year 2016/17, specify where those on work placements were working: eg Customer Services, Investigations, Project Team, Quality Service and Integrity etc.

7. For the year 2016/17, specify for each office how many of the placements were for:

i. 1 week;
ii. 2 weeks;
iii. 3 weeks; and
iv. 4 weeks.

8. For the year 2016/17, specify the number of students who started work placements but failed to complete them at:

We have considered your request in line with the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. Please see below our response.

 

1.  For the year 2016/17, how many individuals applied for work experience
opportunities at:

i. Your London office; and – ii. your Manchester office – 7 in London and
1 in Manchester

 

2.  For the year 2016/17, how many individuals were offered work
placements at:

i. Your London office; and ii. your Manchester office – 2 in London and 1
in Manchester

 

3.  For the year 2016/17, of those individuals offered work placements how
many took them up at:

i. Your London office; and ii. your Manchester office – 2 in London and 1
in Manchester (who did not take up the placement)

 

4.  For each office, please provide the number of students who were:

i. Taking post -16 courses; ii. undergraduates; and iii. postgraduates – 8
were Undergraduates

 

5.  In respect of all students who took up offers of work experience
during 2016/17, how much was paid in travel expenses in respect of:

i. Your London office; and ii.  Your Manchester office – only 1 person
claimed their travel expenses

 

6. For the year 2016/17, specify where those on work placements were
working: e.g. Customer Services, Investigations, Project Team, Quality
Service and Integrity etc. They both worked in Legal Services; and 1
person in Quality Assurance in Manchester, who did not take up the
placement

 

7. For the year 2016/17, specify for each office how many of the
placements were for:

i. 1 week; ii. 2 weeks; iii. 3 weeks; and iv. 4 weeks – they were all for
2 weeks

 

8.  For the year 2016/17, specify the number of students who started work
placements but failed to complete them at:

i. Your London office; and ii.  your Manchester office – 1 in Manchester
and 5 failed to complete the application process  by submitting a CV and a
supporting statement.

 

7.  Please provide the same information asked for in parts 1 to 8, but for
the current business year up to August 2017. Same as above responses
