Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Since 2017 a 'health and work conversation' has been held between work coaches and some claimants who are being referred to a work capability assessment. These are mandatory interviews, although not all claimants in this situation will be required to participate in one. Can you confirm that these interviews are still taking place as part of the UC and ESA 'health journey'?

In those areas where the pilot 'employment and health discussions' are being offered (see also FOI2023 84909: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...), can you confirm that claimants may still have to have a 'health and work conversation' with their work coach, regardless of whether they accept this offer?

Finally, can you provide any guidance used by work coaches in deciding whether or not a 'health and work conversation' interview is to take place?
