Wirral Beach Management Plans

We're waiting for Sean Dalby to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Could you please confirm whether there is one single beach managment plan, which covers all beaches and foreshores across Wirral, or multiple plans for each section / segment of beach / foreshore.

Would you be able to provide full details of all the beach management plans across all beaches for Wirral, including details of the assent for the plans received by Natural England, including start / end dates, action that can be taken etc.

If any of the plans have expired can you please provide details of when they expired and the current action being taken to adopt a new plan.

If any plans are 'current', ie end date greater than (or after) 1st May 2021, can you please provide details and what action is currently being taken, planned or has been taken in the previous 12 months to renew this plan.

Yours faithfully,

Sean Dalby

Dear Mr Dalby

Further to your recent Freedom of Information enquiry, please see below
the Council’s response to your request.

Could you please confirm whether there is one single beach managment plan,
which covers all beaches and foreshores across Wirral, or multiple plans
for each section / segment of beach / foreshore.

There are currently no beach management plans in place for the Wirral
foreshores.

Would you be able to provide full details of all the beach management
plans across all beaches for Wirral, including details of the assent for
the plans received by Natural England, including start / end dates, action
that can be taken etc.

There are currently no beach management plans in place for the Wirral
foreshores.

If any of the plans have expired can you please provide details of when
they expired and the current action being taken to adopt a new plan.

The assent for the management of the beaches at West Kirby, Hoylake,
Wallasey and New Brighton expired on 31^st March 2021.

Habitat Regulations Assessments are being prepared ahead of an application
for assent for beach management at West Kirby, Wallasey and New Brighton
beaches. Management activities are limited to collection of litter using a
surf rake.

Habitat Regulations Assessment is being prepared ahead of an application
for assent to undertake limited sand removal operations at Hoylake Beach.

If any plans are 'current', ie end date greater than (or after) 1st May
2021, can you please provide details and what action is currently being
taken, planned or has been taken in the previous 12 months to renew this
plan.

See answer above. Plans are not renewed. Removal of litter is currently
undertaken by hand picking.

Yours sincerely
