I would be most grateful if you would provide me, under the Freedom of Information Act, details in respect to the following questions;

1. How many instances of the Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System are currently in operation across your entire network? How many devices such as kiosks, lap tops etc are still running Windows 7?

2. How many instances of the Microsoft Windows XP Operating System are currently in operation across your entire network ? How many devices such as kiosks, lap tops etc are still running Windows XP?

3. Who is the officer responsible for maintaining and delivering legacy applications to all your users?

Dear Lee

 

Thank you for your recent information request which has been handled under
the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. Our procedures also comply
with the Procurement (Scotland) Act 2014.

 

In response to your first two questions, we consider that releasing this
information into the public domain could potentially reveal any security
weaknesses and therefore increase the risk of serious cyber-crime assault
by compromising our IT security and operational activities.  We therefore
consider this information exempt from release under Section 35(2)(g) of
FOISA: protect a charity from loss or mismanagement and Section 30(c) of
FOISA: prejudice effective conduct of public affairs.

 

The answer to question three is in red below for ease of reference.  As
your organisation may be aware, organisations should consider their
obligations under the [1]Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC
Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR) if considering using the information
provided for marketing purposes.

 

If your organisation would like to tender for business with

to register your interest.  

Your right to seek review of our decision 

If you are not satisfied with our response or our reasoning set-out above,
you have forty working days from today in which to request a review of our
decision. Any request should be put in writing and should be sent to Ann

bottom of this email. The request should: 

(a) detail your request for a review of our decision to be undertaken; 

(b) describe the nature of your original request; and 

(c) explain the reasons why you are dissatisfied with our response. 

If you remain dissatisfied with how your request for information has been
dealt with, you also have the right to apply to the Scottish Information
Commissioner for a decision as to whether we have handled your request
properly.
