Will UK flights be able to land in the EU in the event of a no deal?

Department for Exiting the European Union did not have the information requested.

Dear Department for Exiting the European Union,

I contacted the Civil Aviation Authority asing whether UK flights would be able to land in the EU or overfly EU airspace in the event of a no deal. ie No agreement is reached with the EU by leaving day in March 2019.

They advised I contact you but said that International Agreements would enable aircraft to overfly but that I must contact you for information on landing in the EU.

My request is;

1) Should the UK and EU fail to reach an agreement by leaving day in March 2019, will UK aircraft be able to fly to and land in EU and EEA destinations? This includes Norway and Switzerland to avoid any doubt.

If not what is your contingency plan?

2) The Irish Prime Minister has also said that he would not allow UK aircraft to overfly Eire in a no deal scenario.

Do you believe this is legally enforceable?

Yours faithfully,

Alexander Tiffin
