Wildfires at Forestry Commission sites

The request was successful.

Dear Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service,

Could you please tell me how many calls to fires were attended each year, for the past five years, for the following Forestry Commission sites:

Shrawley Wood
Oversley Wood
Haugh Woods

I am aware that sometimes incidents are reported vaguely such as "the woods off of Bristol Road" without the full address. Please could you do your best to capture these incidents too when they are on Forestry Commission land. Could you also include any other Forestry Commission sites that you cover that I may have missed please.

Yours faithfully,

D. Schofield

Dear Information Requests,

Thank you for your response to my enquiry, 'Fires at Forestry Commission sites'.May I clarify if the total times you provided are incident time or appliance time? For example, if two appliances were called to the same incident, the times for both appliances spent on scene were combined to show overall time spent by resources.

If only total incident times were provided , would you be able to provide appliance time for each incident too please?

Yours sincerely,

D. Schofield

Information Requests, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service

Dear Mr Scofield

I have attached a document that should answer your further question.

But just to be clear so that you are not confused by all the data the you have already been sent, the original set of times given to you for the incidents was the time from the 'time of first call' to the time of 'stop message' which is when the Service has confirmed no more appliances need to be mobilised to the incident.

The set of data that is attached shows the actual times that the appliance/s spent at the incident.

I hope this helps.

Just to note you'll see there is one incident that records 19 hours for one appliance. This is usual practice for some fires where the Service feels there might be a risk of the materials reigniting and so we keep a presence at the scene until firefighters are confident that the risk is gone.

Should you have any queries regarding the management of your request and wish to make either a complaint or request a review of the information disclosed to you, please do so by using Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service's complaints system: Comments and Complaints. This must be done within 40 working days of our response to your request. After this date and in line with ICO guidance the Service is not obliged to provide an internal review of your request.
