Why the infant feeding consultation has been postponed

Tannice Hemming made this Freedom of Information request to Kent County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Kent County Council,

As a follow-up to my earlier FOI request, which is pending a response:

I would like to know why the infant feeding consultation was withdrawn with a suggested postponement date of September? Who made this decision and why? Why was the consultation released if it was not suitable for receiving consultation responses?

I would also like to know what will happen to all of the consultation responses that have already been submitted - both via the online questionnaire facility on the Kent County Council website and via email.

Yours faithfully,

Tannice Hemming

Kent County Council

Dear Ms Hemming

Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) 2000, relating to the postponed infant feeding
consultation. Please accept my sincere apologies for the slight delay in
responding to you. I appreciate that KCC has failed to comply with
statutory timescales on this occasion.

I would like to know why the infant feeding consultation was withdrawn
with a suggested postponement date of September? It did not articulate
appropriately the planned changes, it also contained suggestions that
members were unaware of and did not support.

Please refer to:
[1]http://consultations.kent.gov.uk/consult...

Who made this decision and why?  Paul Carter – Leader of Kent County
Council.

Why was the consultation released if it was not suitable for receiving
consultation responses? Please see question 1.

I would also like to know what will happen to all of the consultation
responses that have already been submitted - both via the online
questionnaire facility on the Kent County Council website and via email.
All feedback received during the 18 July to 4 August period while the
consultation was open is being analysed and used to assist in the
development of the updated consultation documentation. The views expressed
in the initial phase of consultation, as well as the planned consultation
activity in September, will be taken into account prior to any decisions
being taken by the Council. Please see the link above.

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied
with legislation, please ask for a review by following our complaints
process; details can be found at this link
[2]http://www.kent.gov.uk/about-the-council...
on our website. Please quote reference FOI/17/1355.

If you still remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you can
appeal to the Information Commissioner, who oversees compliance with the
Freedom of Information Act 2000. Details of what you need to do, should
you wish to pursue this course of action, are available from the
Information Commissioner’s website [3]http://www.ico.org.uk/concerns.

Yours sincerely,
