Why are you favouring PLT companies over all others?

Waiting for an internal review by Office of Communications of their handling of this request.

Michael Trodd

Dear Office of Communications,

Thank you for the various replies to my other FOIs.
As I indicated I am still not clear about a number of issues regarding your stance on PLT.

I regard PLT as being illegal because it can not comply with the required laws and regulations.

The interference from PLT has had a significant detrimental affect on my enjoyment and ability to receive legitimate information by means of short wave radio.

I am also greatly concerned about the interference to safety of life radio services that have been shown to be affected by PLT using spectrum up to low UHF.

You have made clear that PLT must comply with the EMC regulations and in particular the essential requirements. Yet in your own report the clear conclusion was that it does 'not comply' with the essential requirements.

I find this very confusing and somewhat inept!

1) Please say why, and support with documents as required, PLT needs to be treated completely differently from all other electrical/electronic devices, in that you claim, it needs its own standard?

2) Please say how your stance is fair on 'all' other manufactures (non PLT) of electrical/electronic devices that without doubt have to comply with the EMC regulations and essential requirements.

3) Please give some examples of other domestic electrical/electronic devices that have their own standard and do not need to comply with the EMC regulations and essential requirements. (as you insist that PLT is not a radio system please only include other non radio devices)

Yours faithfully,

Michael Trodd
