Who does the UK owe money to?
Dear Her Majesty’s Treasury,
We hear a lot of talk about the UK being in debt and that it owes quite a considerable amount of money.
I would like you to provide me with the following information.
Exactly who does the UK Government owe all of this money too?
Does the UK Government borrow money from the Bank of England?
Does the UK Government Lend money to any other Country?
Why does the UK Government not print it's own money?
Yours faithfully,
Stuart Hopkins

I have removed a number of annotations from this request and prevented any new ones from being posted. I would like to remind potential contributors that annotations are solely to assist the requester to obtain the official information s/he is rrequesting, or to act upon the information. However well-intentioned a potential annotater (if that's a word!) may be, if their intended annotation isn't in compliance with that I would ask that they do not post it, but instead write a blog post (start a free one if you haven't got one) or join in debate on the issue on other fora. Thank you.
