Who deals with de-registration requests?
Dear Stafford Borough Council,
When a parent de-registers their child from school who deals with the initial request? An EWO or someone from the EHE team? If it is an EWO, what happens after the intial assessment? Three questions in one there, but hoping this can be clarified!
Yours faithfully,
B. Fields
Dear Sir / Madam
Please be advised we have forwarded your enquiry to the County Council
as we do not hold the relevant information here at the Borough.

Dear FOI,
How long will it be, before a response is received from them?
Yours sincerely,
B. Fields
Dear Sir / Madam
Unfortunately I am unable to speculate on that as the County are a
different establishment to the Borough but I can only assume they will
try to adhere to the 20 working day standard FOI response time.

Dear B Fields,
Thank you for your request for information. The EWO would deal with
this, and the information gathered is passed to the EHE team if parent
indicates they wish to be supported by them. If they don't then the
information is recorded as EHE not registered.
If you have any queries or require any further information please do not
hesitate to contact me.
In the first instance if you have any comments relating to how your
request has been handled by our authority, please write to Philip Jones,
Head of Information Governance, Wedgwood Building, Block A, Tipping
Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH.
If you have any further comments relating to how your request has been
handled by our authority, please contact the Information Commissioner,
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
Yours Sincerely,

Dear Stibbs, Lian (L&D),
Thank you for replying. I have a couple of further questions.
What register does EHE registered refer to?
If they are put as EHE not registered, what happens next? Are they classed as missing from education or as being alternatively educated? Or something else entirely?
With thanks again,
B. Fields
I am currently out of the office until Wednesday 28 December 2011. I shall
respond to your emails upon my return.
Regards,
Lian.
Dear Stibbs, Lian (L&D),
When can I expect to receive a response to my further questions?
With thanks.
Yours sincerely,
B. Fields
Dear B Fields,
My apologies for the delay in responding I was awaiting a response from the service area.
EHE - Elective Home Education is the County Council's mechanism of recording children who are receiving EHE with support from Olaf Hindmarsh and his team. They give advice on curriculum and access to County Council organised EHE activity days, and if required, support for college placements for young people in years 10 and 11.
If they are not registered as receiving EHE there is no support.
Yours sincerely,
Lian Stibbs

I think it's important to remember that we don't request to de-register from school, we only need to tell a school that we are de-registering.
Kindest Regards
