Dear Ministry of Defence,

I am making this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Does the Ministry of Defence have an official whistleblowing policy? If so, please provide an electronic copy of the full text of that policy.

If the Army, Royal Air Force or Royal Navy have their own whistleblowing policies, please provide electronic copies of those also.

In general terms, how would the Ministry of Defence go about investigating service personnel who were suspected of misappropriating public funds?

Yours faithfully,

Peter Jones

Dear Ministry of Defence,

I am reminded that the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires public bodies to respond to requests for information promptly, and in any case within 20 working days.

Your response to my request "Whistleblowing Policy" is now overdue.

Please issue a response promptly or indicate how much longer I will have to wait.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Jones

Dear Ministry of Defence,

It is now 2 calendar months since I submitted my FOIA request "Whistleblowing Policy".

Your department has not had the courtesy to acknowledge my request, let alone make any effort to reply within the 20 working day statutory time frame. That is most unsatisfactory.

Please refer my request to whoever conducts internal reviews.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Jones

CIO-FOI (MULTIUSER), Ministry of Defence

Dear Mr Jones,

Thank you for your email regarding your request for information. In
response to your request for an internal review, the internal review
process is aimed primarily at reviewing MOD's substantive response to a
request for information. As you have not been provided with a
substantive response the most productive solution at this time is to
investigate the status of your request.

My investigation has revealed that your request for information is with
the relevant subject matter expert. Your complaint has been passed to
them and they have been asked to contact you as soon as possible with
either a response or an explanation for the delay.

The reference number for your request is 07-04-2010-170205-004

If after having received a substantive response you remain dissatisfied,
MOD would be happy to begin a formal internal review at that stage.

Yours sincerely,

CIO-CI-Access

Am curious about your submitting this request. There seems to be some whistleblowing issues with the ATC; more how it affects Civilian Committee members who are volunteers and therefore are not afforded Employment protection, but as Trustees do have certain responsibilities under the Charities Act 2011.

There are certain issues on-going, which the authorities seem to think are easily dismissed by quotes from manuals but which do not address the way that whistleblowers are treated.

If your enquiry has any link with the ATC, it would be useful to know.
