Whistleblowing

The request was successful.

Dear Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please provide me with a copy of the following information:

1) The number of concerns that have been raised with the council by whistleblowers during the past 3 calendar years.

For clarity, I am interested in concerns raised by employees, members, agency staff or third party contractors under the Council's Whistleblowing and Serious Misconduct Policy.

I would like this information broken down by calendar year if possible, but a breakdown by financial year would also be acceptable.

Yours faithfully,

Helen Cross

Good Afternoon,

I'm a bit confused by your message. It seems to say that requests received after 01/08/2022 and 02/01/2023 will need to be made via post or a webform. It then says that I don't need to resubmit my request because it was received prior to 01/10/22, when I made my request on 01/10/22. Can I quickly double check that you are intending to process my request?

I'd note that, in any event, my request is a valid request for recorded information, so there would be no need for me to resubmit it. Section 8 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires that a request be made in writing, include the requester’s name and an address for correspondence; and describe the information being requested. There is no requirement that a request to be sent to a particular mailbox, indeed, I note that as per ICO guidance, even requests made via social media are valid for the purposes of the act. The ICO have also said that "Whilst a public authority can request a form is filled in, you are not obliged to do this." They have recently issued a Decision Notice against Stevenage Borough Council which reminded them that they can not require requesters to use a specific form: https://ico.org.uk/media/action-weve-tak...

Yours sincerely,

Helen Cross
