Which company provides the door access systems around the university.
Dear York St John University,
I am getting in touch to ask which company supplies the door access card readers on buildings around York St. John University (used for contact-less access on campus cards).
Please give all information relating to:
- The make and model of readers used
- The company which manufactures/distributes the readers
- Any third-party installers/channel partners used to purchase the readers
- The security infrastructure provider
- The software used to manage the door controllers and readers.
- Approximate quantity of doors at the university.
- Name of the Head of Estates for the University.
Additionally, if the university uses readers from multiple suppliers, please give a list of all suppliers.
Thank you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
K York

Dear York St. John,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly - I know these requests can be challenging to deal with.
To clarify, my full name is: Kate York
However, for future reference, I would refer you to this advice from the Information Commissioners Office: https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisatio...
Under clause 25, which is in reference to section 8(1)(b) of the FOIA, states that:
"Any variation of the requester’s title or first name combined
with their surname (e.g. Mr Smith or John Smith) will be
sufficient to meet this requirement. However, a first name or
surname provided in isolation, or a set of initials, will not."
The example given is:
'A requester named Robert Jones could call themselves ‘Rob
Jones’, ‘Bobby Jones’, ‘R Jones’, ‘Bob Jones’ or ‘Mr Jones’.
However, they could not just use ‘Robert’, ‘Bob’, ‘Bobby’ or
‘R.J’.'
This information can also be found on the 'WhatDoTheyKnow' website here:
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/help/priv...
I would therefore suggest that the initial name I gave of 'K York' satisfies this criteria, and therefore is not a reason to withhold the requested information. Please do let me know if you believe this not to be the case.
In any case - I hope the issue is now resolved. I appreciate your support throughout this process and I look forward to hearing back from you shortly.
Yours sincerely,
K York
