What roads do people ask about?

The request was successful.

Dear Richmond upon Thames Borough Council,

In a recent document, it is claimed that there are 200 or more requests each month for traffic calming measures in the borough. (Here: http://cabnet.richmond.gov.uk/documents/...)

I would like to know:
- What are the locations for which these requests are made
- How are these classified by justification
- How many have been acted upon
- For those acted upon, what action was taken

Please provide data for the last five years, if it is available.

Many thanks,

Tim Lennon

Dear Tim Lennon,

Your request for information which was received on 22 September 2016 has

Your request:

each month for traffic calming measures in the borough. (Here:

I would like to know: -

1.    What are the locations for which these requests are made –

2.    How are these classified by justification –

3.    How many have been acted upon –

4.    For those acted upon, what action was taken

Please provide data for the last five years, if it is available.

Our response:

1) The figure referred to in the report reflects the approximate number of
customer enquiries logged to the Traffic Management Team in the Council’s
correspondence system each month.  The enquires are borough-wide.

2) All correspondence received is considered by officers and a response
provided, where appropriate.  The Council needs a new data led assessment
process to assess requests and justify investigation, hence the report.

3&4) The Council does not maintain a separate record of actions taken as a
result of correspondence received and the correspondence system does not
produce such reports.

I hope you are satisfied with this response.

If you are dissatisfied please let us know in writing, setting out your
reasons why and send to:

Dear FOI team,

Thank you for your quick reply to this.

Another way the data would be useful would be a spreadsheet or similar which contains the calls made to the traffic management team, via the contact centre, and the description or categorisation of those calls / requests. For example, you may be able to identify calls on this subject by selecting all those sent to particular officers or teams.

Regarding 3 and 4, is there a separate record of the planned and completed road works for the borough, instead?

Yours sincerely,

Tim Lennon
