MacDonald Calum, Hull City Council

Dear Sir

Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Information Request - 000732/14

With regard to your Freedom of Information request received on 15/04/2014,
please find our response below.

What revenue is made from the rent taken from the whole of Hull fair in
the one week that it is held?

In accordance with Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act, the
Council is required to inform you that the information you have requested
has not been provided and has been withheld due to the following exemption
under the Act.

Section 43 - Commercial interests

It is considered that disclosure of this detailed information, in relation
to the cost/profit of Hull Fair, could prejudice the commercial interests
of the Council.

Disclosure of information is prohibited when it would or be likely to
prejudice the commercial interests of any person (including the public
authority holding it).  In this case disclosure of the overall expenditure
on Hull Fair and the profit it does or does not generate could prejudice
any future negotiations the Council may have in connection with the future
of Hull Fair and similar or other projects.

We have considered the public interest in regard to the release of this
information and in so doing have weighed the benefits that disclosure
would provide in respect of openness and accountability against the harm
and prejudice which could be caused to the Council in release of this
detailed information.   We therefore believe in this case, there is no
justification in releasing the information relating to this detailed
information and therefore the public interest in withholding the
information outweighs the public interest in disclosure.

We hope that you will be satisfied with our response and should you
require any further information then please do not hesitate to contact
us.
