What is the reason for CCTV cameras on the traffic lights at the junction of the A435 and College Road

Cheltenham Borough Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Cheltenham Borough Council,

I recently noticed there are 4 CCTV cameras on each of the traffic lights at the junction of the A435 and College Road in Cheltenham and I would like to know the reason as they don't appear to be normal town CCTV cameras.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Smith

Dear Mr Smith,

The information the council holds in relation to your request for
information is below:

These cameras are not Cheltenham Borough Council public realm cameras,
which is why they do not appear to be “normal town CCTV cameras”. Please
contact Gloucestershire County Council who manage the Highways in
Cheltenham and may hold further information on the cameras:
[1][email address]

Please note: If you are dissatisfied with the Council’s response you have
a right of appeal. In the first instance please forward your appeal to
Customer Relations, Cheltenham Borough Council, Municipal Offices,
Promenade, Cheltenham, GL50 9SA or email:
[2][Cheltenham Borough Council request email]. Your appeal will be considered and
a response sent to you within 20 working days.

If you are still not happy with any decision following any review you have
a further right of appeal to the Information Commissioner, Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Kind regards,

Dear Customer Relations (CBC),

I have already asked Gloucestershire County Council and they said they don't have information about these cameras and to contact you.

Yours sincerely,

Paul

Dear Mr Smith,

Thank you for your email. We have reviewed our previous response and the
information we hold;

I can reconfirm that Cheltenham Borough Council does not old any
information regarding the CCTV camera on the traffic lights at the
junction of the A435 and College Road.

However, a simple google search has revealed that Gloucestershire Highways
have a map showing red light camera locations.  The junction of High
Street/College Road/Hewlett Road is on the map:
[1]https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highw....

I again direct you to Gloucestershire County Council for further
information as Highways Gloucestershire is under the jurisdiction of GCC.

Kind regards,
