What is Nicholas hill?

The request was successful.

Dear Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council,

I drove past a sign on the A6 in Over Hulton that said I was entering a place called Nicholas Hill. It's not on any map and just seems like a sign as just been put up for no reason although appears official.

Could you please provide any information you may have that identifies whether the council recognises this place and the circumstances that meant that this sign was put up?

Yours faithfully,

Owen G

Nicholas Hill is named on the 1907 Ordnance Survey map of the area
although no longer appears on the current Ordnance Survey maps.

The sign was installed circa 2009 following a request by the local Ward
Councillors after they had received requests from local residents. The
sign was funded by the local Area Forum budget which is controlled by
local Ward Councillors.
