waste collection which we received on 04/07/2019.

Please find below, Sheffield City Council’s response to your request:

I would like to know the proportion by weight and volume of waste
collected from the Brown bins that is

All glass bottles and jars, cans and plastic bottles placed inside the
brown bin are recycled. In 2018/19, 19,432 tonnes of materials were placed
in the brown bin (and blue bin prior to the introduction of the brown bin
between September and November last year). We do not hold information on
the volume which was recycled.

a) recycled

91.60% of the 19,432 tonnes of materials were recycled.

b)sent to the energy recovery facility

c)otherwise disposed of but not recycled?

8.40% of the 19,432 tonnes could not be recycled. These incorrect
materials were separated during the sorting process and were sent to local
energy recovery or landfill facilities. We cannot provide a further
breakdown of how much went to the energy recovery facility or how much
went to landfill as we do not hold this information.
