Dear Mr Rashleigh-Berry,
Your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 dated 3^rd May 2013
concerning the Angel Hotel, Whitby has been passed to me for reply.
Alcohol licensing is a district council function and so the licence for
this premises will have been issued by Scarborough Borough Council. This
authority does not hold any information relating to the premises’ licence.
I have therefore referred your request to the borough council’s Freedom of
Information Officer at [1][email address].
Pricing legislation is enforced by trading standards services. There is no
legislation controlling the price at which goods and services may be sold,
however, traders are required by regulations to provide details of the
price where goods or services are offered for sale. Typically, this would
be done by providing a price list on the wall or bar in a pub or by shelf
edge tickets or individual price tickets in shops. In addition, quoted
prices must not be misleading; for example, the price must include VAT if
it is applicable. The provision of pricing information before a
transaction has taken place is intended to allow customers to make an
informed decision about whether they wish to buy at the advertised price
or not. If you think that the Angel Hotel is not complying with these
requirements then please contact me on
[2][email address] and I will arrange for an officer to
investigate your complaint.
Yours sincerely,
