Dear Transport for London,

You have stated in an email (sent to "Have Your Say" respondents on 09/07/2021) that bus delays along Chiswick High Road in May 2021 "were up to 1.3 minutes per km slower than the average in 2019".

The methodology behind this statement has been further explained as follows:

"For the 4 weeks in May 2021, the average journey time eastbound along Chiswick High Road (between Chiswick Flyover and Dalling Road) was 5.7 min/km. This compares to the pre-Covid baseline (March 2019-March 2020) of 4.4 min/km, meaning bus journey times were 1.3 min/km slower."

Please could you provide the equivalent calculation for average WESTBOUND journey times in May 2021 between Dalling Road and Chiswick Flyover compared to the pre-Covid baseline (March 2019-March 2020).

Yours faithfully,

John Balmond

Dear Mr Balmond

TfL Ref: FOI-1193-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2
September 2021, asking about bus delays on Chiswick High Road between
Chiswick Flyover and Dalling Road.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can
confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

Please could you provide the equivalent calculation for average WESTBOUND
journey times in May 2021 between Dalling Road and Chiswick Flyover
compared to the pre-Covid baseline (March 2019-March 2020).

Please find attached run time data for route H91 as this is the only route
that runs between the required locations. We picked the closest stops:
“Ravenscourt Park Station” and “Windmill Road” on this stretch of the
road.

It’s not clear what date range you are interested in. Therefore we
provided three sets of data which cover the following:

o 17/08/2019-05/09/2021 (daily) – as the only data set available;
o May 2020 and May 2021 – for comparison reasons (May 2019 data is no
longer available);
o Three weeks at the end of August / beginning of September, years 2019,
2020 and 2021 – for comparison reasons (the only comparable periods
available in three years).

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely

Dear Eva,

Many thanks for your response to my FOI request.

My apologies if the timescale for the data in my original request was unclear. I was looking for the westbound run-times for buses between Dalling Road and Chiswick Flyover for two periods - firstly a baseline data-set for March 2019-March 2020, and secondly a data-set from May 2021 for comparison.

This would have enabled me to compare westbound bus times directly with the calculation of eastbound bus times originally supplied by TfL. I understand from your response that the March 19 - Aug 19 data is no longer available, so therefore a direct comparison is no longer possible.

However the data-set that you have supplied for 17/08/2019 to 05/09/21 is still useful - the problem is that the stop "Windmill Road" is a significant distance beyond Chiswick Flyover.

Would it be possible for you to supply the same data-set but for run-times between "Ravenscourt Park Station" and the closest monitored bus stop on the eastern side of Chiswick Roundabout . This could include "Turnham Green Church", "Chiswick Road", "Gunnersbury Station", or "Power Road".

Many thanks for your help!
