Dear Mr Rawlinson,

Thank you for your information request of 02 December 2013. Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested.

Background

Please provide the following information for the last 2 years:

Question 1

a) I would like to know the number of applications that Aberdeen City
Council has made for welfare guardianship and

730.

b) The percentage of successful applications for those actions that have
been challenged by parents/carers

There are not many challenges from parents/carers, challenges are usually
by the adult themselves. 5 in total have been challenged by parents or
carers. 1 remains undecided whilst 3 of the remaining 4 were successful
and 1 was settled when a care plan was agreed for the adult. Use of
percentages in this limited context give an imprecise view, as 3 out of
the 4 challenged would be 75% - however given the figure provided in
question 1 a), 75% is not a true reflection as this sort of challenge is
not that common.

Question 2

What is the number of complaints received about the application of direct
or self directed payments?

ACC do not hold this information.

ACC is unable to provide you with information on the number of complaints
received about the application of direct or self directed payments as it

with people with learning disabilities?

received about social workers dealing with people with learning
disabilities as it is not held by ACC. In order to comply with its
