I would be grateful if you could please answer the following questions with regards to
both tier 3 and tier 4 weight management services within your Health Board.
Please answer as many questions as you can - If a question is not relevant, please state
N/A.
Tier 3
1. Does your Health Board offer a tier 3 weight management service (or equivalent
specialist weight management service)? Is it self-commissioned? If commissioned
elsewhere, where (which health board/ social care trust)?
2. For how many patients is your Health Board's tier 3 weight management service (or
equivalent specialist weight management service) commissioned for?
3. How many patients have been referred from your Health Board to a tier 3 weight
management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) in the past 12
months?
4. What is the average waiting time to access your Tier 3 weight management service (or
equivalent specialist weight management service) in the past 12 months?
Tier 4
5. Does your Health Board have access to a tier 4 weight management service? If so, who
Commissions it?
6. How many patients have been referred to your Health Board’s tier 4 weight
management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) in the past 12
months?
7. What is the current number of patients on a waiting list for Tier 4 weight management
services in your Health Board?

Tier 3
1. Does your Health Board offer a tier 3 weight management service (or equivalent
specialist weight management service)? Is it self-commissioned? If commissioned
elsewhere, where (which health board/ social care trust)?
NHS Grampian does not offer a tier 3 Adult Weight Management Service.
2. For how many patients is your Health Board's tier 3 weight management service
(or equivalent specialist weight management service) commissioned for?
Not applicable.
3. How many patients have been referred from your Health Board to a tier 3 weight
management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) in the
past 12 months?
Not applicable.
4. What is the average waiting time to access your Tier 3 weight management
service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) in the past 12
months?
Not applicable.
Tier 4
5. Does your Health Board have access to a tier 4 weight management service? If
so, who Commissions it?
NHS Grampian provides a Tier 4 adult weight management service.
6. How many patients have been referred to your Health Board’s tier 4 weight
management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) in the
past 12 months?
161 referrals received between 1.3.22 and 28.2.23.
7. What is the current number of patients on a waiting list for Tier 4 weight
management services in your Health Board?
Waiting for 1st appointment in service: 0
Waiting to start psychology/dietetic assessment: 58
Waiting for return clinic appointment: 28
On Surgical inpatient waiting list: 19
8. What is the average waiting time to access the Tier 4 weight management
service?
Waiting for 1st appointment in service: 0 months
Ave length of time to start psych/diet assessment: 10 months
Average length of time waiting for return appointment: 4 months
Ave length of time for current patients on Surgical inpatient waiting list: 11 months

referrals' to weight management services in your Health Board?
Not applicable.
Under section 20 (1) of the Act, if you are dissatisfied with the way NHS Grampian has
dealt with your request, you have a right to request a review of our actions and decisions
in relation to your request, and you have a right to appeal to the Scottish Information
