We refer to your recent request for information.  We have dealt with your
request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.  For ease of
reference, we have copied your request below: 

I would be grateful if you could please answer the following questions
with regards to both tier 3 and tier 4 weight management services within
your Health Board.
Please answer as many questions as you can - If a question is not
relevant, please state N/A.
Tier 3
1. Does your Health Board offer a tier 3 weight management service (or
equivalent specialist weight management service)? Is it self-commissioned?
If commissioned elsewhere, where (which health board/ social care trust)?

Yes and it is self-commissioned

2. For how many patients is your Health Board's tier 3 weight management
service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) commissioned
for?

We don’t have commissioned services within NHS Scotland

3. How many patients have been referred from your Health Board to a tier 3
weight management service (or equivalent specialist weight management
service) in the past 12 months?

400

4. What is the average waiting time to access your Tier 3 weight
management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) in
the past 12 months?

The average waiting time for those on the waiting list week commencing 27
February 2023 – 159 days/23 weeks

Tier 4
5. Does your Health Board have access to a tier 4 weight management
service? If so, who Commissions it?

NHS Forth Valley does not have a Tier 4 service although 10 bariatric
surgery procedures per year are commissioned to be carried out by an
independent provider –patients are assessed through the Tier 3 service and
therefore included in the numbers above.

6. How many patients have been referred to your Health Board’s tier 4
weight management service (or equivalent specialist weight management
service) in the past 12 months?

Not applicable

7. What is the current number of patients on a waiting list for Tier 4
weight management services in your Health Board?

Not applicable

8. What is the average waiting time to access the Tier 4 weight management
service?

Not applicable

9. How many patients were referred through the 'local enhanced service for
referrals' to weight management services in your Health Board?

No longer applies to NHS Scotland
