Dear British Waterways Board,
My name is Chris Greenfield, my company is a registered carrier and
refurbisher of WEEE.
I would like to request the following information from either the
procurement department or the Waste Management/Recycling
• Date of the next tender for the “Collection and Disposal of WEEE
(Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
• Also a copy of the previous successful tender for the collection
and disposal of WEEE.
I look forward to hearing from you,
[mobile phone number removed]
Dear Mr Greenfield,
I am writing further to your request for information of 14th October 2011.
I can confirm that British Waterways have not undertaken a separate WEEE tender because we have limited requirement for disposal of electrical assets. Our computers are leased and therefore returned to the provider at the end of their lease. Our photocopiers are either leased or purchased and returned to the provider for disposal. Any WEEE assets outside of the above go to Biffa who provide a hazardous waste service on an item per item basis but the usage is very small. In addition to this we have recently commenced the review process for our waste management contracting arrangements and expect to conclude this early in 2012.
If we haven’t reasonably met your expectations in relation to a request for information or you believe we may not have acted in accordance with the above legislation you should write in the first instance to Kelly Radley Head of Customer Relations, 64 Clarendon Road, Watford, Herts WD17 1DA outlining your concerns and asking for a review to be undertaken. Your correspondence will be acknowledged and a review of your case will be undertaken by one of British Waterways’ directors.
Should you remain unsatisfied by the response you receive you are able to contact the Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx.
