Dear Gwynedd Council, Can you please inform of how much Gwynedd Council spend on weed-killer per annum?
How much weed-killer is used per annum ?

Herbicides are classified/grouped in various ways e.g. according to the activity, timing of application, method of application, mechanism of action, chemical family. This gives rise to a considerable level of terminology related to herbicides and their use.
What is the council's intended outcome of the application of their weed killer ?

Is it control or destruction of unwanted weeds, or the damage of them to the point where they are no longer competitive with grasses / flowers ?
Suppression : Incomplete control still providing some economic benefit, such as reduced competition with grasses / flowers
As a defoliant, similar to herbicides, but designed to remove foliage (leaves) rather than kill the plant.
Or is it just an easy and cheap way to poison the land that can't be accessed by the grass cutting team with their ride on mowers ?
Why are the difficult / awkward to cut areas not attended to by operatives with a strimmer ?

Gwynedd Council have a corporate responsibility to protect the environment , the unnecessary and wilful use of weed killer should be addressed at Cabinet Level.
Environmental protection is part of the council's "Ffordd Gwynedd"

Yours faithfully,

G K Jones
