I would be grateful if you could provide me with the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:
1. What method do you use for weed control?
2. Do you use Chemicals?
3. If you use chemicals is the council looking to using a more environmentally friendly method?
4. Does the council carry out weed control duties in-house or is this contracted out?
5. (If contracted out) who is the contractor responsible for street cleansing duties?
6. Contact details for the person(s) responsible for managing weed control within the council

I am writing in response to your request dated 15/07/2021.  This has been
dealt with under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

 

May I first of all apologise for the delay in responding to your request.

 

The Council's response to your specific questions is set out below:

 

1.                   What method do you use for weed control? Spraying

2.                   Do you use Chemicals? Yes

3.                   If you use chemicals is the council looking to using
a more environmentally friendly method? Yes, but needs to be effective

4.                   Does the council carry out weed control duties
in-house or is this contracted out? Contracted out

5.                   (If contracted out) who is the contractor responsible
for street cleansing duties? A local contractor has won a cooperative
tender which went through our procurement  processes

6.                   Contact details for the person(s) responsible for
managing weed control within the council Neil Conway

be submitted within 40 working days of the date of receipt of the response
to your original request and should be addressed to the Monitoring
