1. What method do you use for weed control?
2. Do you use Chemicals?
3. If you use chemicals is the council looking to using a more environmentally friendly method?
4. Does the council carry out weed control duties in-house or is this contracted out?
5. (If contracted out) who is the contractor responsible for street cleansing duties?
6. Contact details for the person(s) responsible for managing weed control within the council

Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding.

 

 1. What method do you use for weed control? 

Mechanical rippers only, no chemicals

      2.    Do you use Chemicals?

Selective chemicals for knotweed only

 3. If you use chemicals is the council looking to using a more
environmentally friendly method?

We have looked at other options e.g. vinegar, steam, but have settled for
mechanical rippers.

 4. Does the council carry out weed control duties in-house or is this
contracted out?

We carry out our own weed control, but we only have responsibility for
weed control on land owned by Lancaster City Council.

 5. (If contracted out) who is the contractor responsible for street
cleansing duties?

We do not contract out but Lancashire County Council are responsible for
street cleansing duties and general weed control in this area
