Website redevelopment costs

Kyle Beale made this Freedom of Information request to Derbyshire Constabulary

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Derbyshire Constabulary,

To help assist with a study in to cost effectiveness of public sector websites, can you please provide me with:

a) design and development costs to launch (single figure)
b) ongoing hosting, licensing and maintenance costs (per year or other suitable measure)
c) brief overview of server technologies used (e.g. Microsoft .NET, Apache/PHP, etc.)

I fully understand that contractual agreements, tender documents and other materials may be commercial in confidence, but do hope that you can assist
with indication of costs and technology as other forces have done for me already.

Yours faithfully,

Kyle Beale

Dear Derbyshire Constabulary,

I am still waiting on a response to my previous FOI request, which can be seen online just here:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/we...

By law I should have received a response by now - will I be getting an answer soon?

Thanks,

Kyle Beale

Freedom of Information Office,

Mr Beale,

Thank you for your e mail.

A full search of our systems shows that we have not received any request from you whatsoever under the name of KYLE BEALE, nor have we ever received a request for web development costs from you. If you have some positive evidence to the contrary then please contact me again (for example a letter acknowledgement of receipt of a request which we send to all requesters on initial contact)

As we have not received any request there is no internal review to be undertaken.

I note that you have had a considerable number of responses from forces relating to the subject of web development and presume you have acquired a composite of force FOI addresses for convenience - I would point out that depending upon which "composite" you may have accessed not all forces are included within the group leading to the misconception that all forces have been circulated when they have not.

From a quick perusal of your web pages on whatdotheyknow it appears that you have received a response addressed to a Mr Todd. If that is also relative to yourself you will be aware that a matter of appeal is currently with the ICO regarding disclosure of information by the Derbyshire Constabulary relating to crime mapping.

Thanks

Stuart,

I'm unsure why my original request did not reach you when this followup sent in the same fashion did - apologies if I created uneccessary work for you.

Moving forward, do I need to create a new FOI request for the information I was after, or, given you've now seen my requests on whatdotheyknow.com, are you able to help answer my original questions?

Regarding Julian Todd, whilst I'm aware that he is an individual that makes many FOI requests, I have no affiliation with him and my questioning is completely unrelated to anything he may have asked of you on other subjects.

Yours sincerely,

Kyle Beale

Freedom of Information Office,

Kyle,

Not a problem I'll take this as the request and begin the retrieval process. Please accept this as the acknowledgment letter.

Although we do have 20 working days to respond I am aware that you have other replies so I will try as best we are able to get you a reply as soon as possible to help with your research.

As an aside this is not the first time forces have had this happen - sometimes odd ones seem to drop out into the ether for no apparent reason. As with all mechanical and complex processes through the internet the vagaries of something happening one time and not another are infathomable.

If you need to make sure of contacting us direct we have a facility for FOI requests on our force website at www.derbyshire.police.uk and follow the FOI page which has its own capture form that comes direct to us.

Thanks
