Dear Cambridgeshire Constabulary,

To help assist with a study in to cost effectiveness of public sector websites, can you please provide me with:

a) design and development costs to launch (single figure)
b) ongoing hosting, licensing and maintenance costs (per year or other suitable measure)
c) brief overview of server technologies used (e.g. Microsoft .NET, Apache/PHP, etc.)

I fully understand that contractual agreements, tender documents and other materials may be commercial in confidence, but do hope that you can assist
with indication of costs and technology as other forces have done for me already.

In reply to your request for information under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000, received 29/06/10.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (The Act) requires us to handle all
requests in a manner that is blind to the identity of the requestor. Any
information released in response to a request is regarded as being
published, and therefore in the public domain without caveat.

Request

To help assist with a study in to cost effectiveness of public sector
websites, can you please provide me with:

a) design and development costs to launch (single figure)

b) ongoing hosting, licensing and maintenance costs (per year or other
suitable measure)

c) brief overview of server technologies used (e.g. Microsoft .NET,
Apache/PHP, etc.)

We have completed all searches within Cambridgeshire Constabulary and
hereby enclose your response.

Response

a) The site design cost *2250 (ex VAT). The rest of the development work
was undertaken internally and there is no log of how much work went into
this.

b) Current hosting costs are around *3600 per annum

c) The site runs on Microsoft IIS using classic ASP
