Website Navigation, PBS Dependant Visa - Surname Field cannot be empty

Avais Mohamamd made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Home Office should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Home Office,
When applying for PBS Dependant visa (for my wife) I cannot leave the surname field empty in her name section. Some cultures do not have surnames (India) and the surname field is left blank in their passports.
I am assuming this is a valid use case and would appreciate guideline on how to tackle this situation if changing names on current passport is not an option.
Any help much appreciated.

Yours faithfully,
Avais
