Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

For many months now desktop / laptop web viewers when navigating to the radio part of the iPlayer have been given the option of either going to the 'new' version of the radio player or staying with the 'old' version. Recently this option was removed, with users now taken straight to the 'new' version with the old version now removed.

For the whole period of time this alternative has been available I would like - grouped monthly - the access statistics showing the number of people who clicked the link to take them to the new version and the number of people who clicked the link to take them to the old version.

This web access data should already have been logged as a matter of routine, and since I am asking for data effectively on just two URLs I believe the time taken to fulfil this request should come in at well below the 40 hour limit.

In Friendship,

simon gray

Dear FOI Enquiries,

I was wondering where you are in responding to this request?

Although the FOI act gives information holders 20 working days to respond, meaning you have until 12 March to do so, you also have a duty to respond as soon as possible rather than waiting until the deadline to respond.

Since my request is for simple analytics information which could actually be determined within minutes and a few mouse clicks were you to be using a simple web analytics tool such as Google Analytics I struggle to see how this reply can be taking so long.

Yours sincerely,

simon gray

Dear FOI Enquiries,

If you could provide an update as to when this request will be fulfilled that would be much appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

simon gray

Dear FOI Enquiries,

I am sorry to hear you have refused to supply simple management information regarding access statistics to the two parallel versions of the radio Iplayer, citing an exemption on the grounds of claiming this information is protected as journalistic or artistic information.

Since you do not accept requests for an internal review on these grounds I shall be making a complaint to the Information Commissioner about this, also noting that you did not provide a reply within the mandated 20 days.

Yours sincerely,

simon gray
