Dear Environment Agency,

I am writing to enquire about weather stations in the Kielder Reservoir area.

I am an amateur meteorologist voluntarily making forecasts for the benefit of the Calvert Trust, Kielder, NE48 1BS. To make these forecasts more accurate, I would like access to data from a weather station within the Kielder area.

The only one of which I am aware is at Kielder Castle. This unfortunately has stopped providing data following its handover from the Forestry Commission to the Met Office; it is no longer in use.

I have made enquiries of the Forestry Commission, the Met Office and Northumbrian Water, to no avail. The nearest information I can find is at RAF Spadeadam or at Redesdale Camp, both of which are too far away for them to be of use for Kielder forecasting.

Are you aware of any weather stations in the Kielder Reservoir area? If so, are you aware who operates them?

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Doug Paulley

Dear Environment Agency,

You haven't acknowledged my request or responded within the statutory 20 working days, phase could you indicate its status?

Yours faithfully,

Doug Paulley

Dear Pearce, Sarah,

Thank you very much for this.

Please could you tell me more about the stations? The location of each one would be great, also what information it records / has recorded, would be very useful.

Thank you

Dear Pearce, Sarah,

Thank you very much for the information.

I am more interested in other measurements - temperature, humidity, wind etc. I'm having some difficulty locating such information in the Kielder area, particularly as Kielder Castle meteorological station is currently not working until they install a phone line. As and when I do get weather information on the other variables from another source, I may well be back to you for rainfall data.

Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Doug Paulley
