Dear Sir/Madam,

Enquiry regarding your request NR174584

Thank you for your enquiry which was received on May 25 and please accept
our apologies for the delay in our response.

We respond to requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and
Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

You asked the following and our replies are also below –

1: Is there a current Water Level Management Plan in existence for
Hatfield Moors SSSI (Doncaster, South Yorkshire)?

We do not know whether there is a current WLMP, you would need to contact
the IDB responsible for the site (see answer to question 2)

2: Who is the competent authority with the responsibility for producing
the current plan/producing updates of WLMPs?

This would be the Isle of Axholme Internal Drainage Board

3: Did Hatfield Moors SSSI make the EA Priority List for funding?

We are not sure what this is in regard to, is it funding for an update to
be undertaken to the WLMP, or is it for works on site?

Could you please elaborate on this question, should we be able to help
more.

It may also be best to ask the competent authority as we think it would be
them who would put the site forward for any funding.

We have attached a document from Natural England written for the site in
2006

Please refer to [1]Open Government Licence which explains the permitted
use of this information.

Please get in touch if you have any further queries or contact us within
two months if you’d like us to review the information we have sent.

Kind regards

Dear National Requests,

Thank you for your response.

With reference to your seeking clarification on point 3.

Is Hatfield Moors considered and recognised by the EA as a ‘Priority Wetlands’ under the WFD? So therefore has funding been allocated to facilitate an updated WLMP?

Your reply to (2) states it is the Isle of Axholme IDB who are the competent authority. We understand that it would be Doncaster East IDB (it may be possible that you believe it to be the Isle of Axholme and North Nottinghamshire IDB / Lindsey Marsh IDB because they provide Management Services to some of the other Boards). Could you please clarify why you state it is IoS&NN IDB please?

Yours sincerely,

Thank you for your follow on question regarding NR174584.

Our response is as follows –

‘The Environment Agency is the Competent Authority and is in negotiations
with Doncaster East IDB to make them the Competent Authority.

The Environment Agency is carrying out a review of the recommendations in
the Hatfield Moors Water Level Management Plan in association with Natural
England.’

I trust this answers your question.
