The request was successful.

Dear Bristol Water Plc,

I would like to request some information on water fluoride levels for a public health research study at the University of Manchester.

Please can you supply:

1. Water fluoride concentration sample data (consumer tap samples) for every Water Supply Zone within the regions that you supply water to, for every year from 2009-2020?

Please supply this in Mg of fluoride per litre, with the date of the sample, and the Water Supply Zone name and zone code, preferably as an Excel file.

2. GIS Shapefile maps showing the Water Supply Zone boundaries for every year from 2009-2020.

Many thanks in advance,

Yours faithfully,

Deborah Moore

Dear Deborah

Unfortunately we have only been able to partially fulfil your request.

The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (as amended) and
previous regulations allow water companies to monitor for fluoride at
supply points as detailed in note (ii) of Schedule 3. In line with this we
only monitor fluoride at the supplying treatment works. The Summary of
fluoride data 2009-2019 attached uses sample data collected from the
treatment works to calculate an annual average value for the associated
Water Supply Zone (WSZ). This information is published on our company
website. The average zonal figure is given as mg/l.

I have also attached a zipped file of the current WSZ boundaries in, Shape
File format. We do not maintain historic WSZ boundaries in the file format
you have requested. Just to clarify, the small areas with no names are the
Bristol Water lakes (Blagdon and Chew Valley), and the raw water
reservoirs at Barrow.

Kind Regards

Emily Wood

Dear Emily Wood,

Many thanks for the data that you have supplied which is helpful.

Would be possible to give us the actual fluoride samples with the dates, rather than the annual summary?

Failing that, could you let me know how many samples are taken per year?

Yours sincerely,

Deborah
