Water Fluoridation Studies

A Romer made this Freedom of Information request to Public Health England

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

We're waiting for A Romer to read a recent response and update the status.

To: Public Health England

Following on from the decision to add hydrofluorosilisic acid (industrial waste fluoride acid) to public drinking water (water fluoridation) across the UK, could you please provide links, citations or attachments to:

1. Primary studies which PHE, or any of its representatives, has used to classify water fluoridation as 'safe'.

2. Primary studies which PHE, or any of its representatives, has used to show water fluoridation is effective for the claimed benefits (i.e. dental health).

If these are not available, can you please provide details of who holds and can provide these studies...

OR please confirm that the decision to fluoridate all UK drinking water was: a) made unilaterally by Chris Whitty and b) PHE has a mandate to implement Mr Whitty's decisions.

Thank you for your assistance and any clarity you can provide on this issue,
Alison Romer
