Waste Bin Training in steps
Dear Clackmannanshire Council,
I receive Assisted Uplift and forever having to report failings in my uplifts.
I wish to request an FOI on the WASTE SERVICE TRAINING step by step process of taking a bin to a wagon and emptying and returning it.
And if there is any additional training for ASSISTED UPLIFT step by step process.
cant see how carrying bags from bin and tipping one bin into another is part of training process. leaving what cant carry in bin.
we all put funds into council tax in one way or another for the service so should receive same high standard service.
Yours faithfully,
martin randall

Dear Mr Martin Randall
Thank you for your information request dated Monday 14th April 2025.
I am happy to supply you with the information you requested.
We do not retain the format you request of a step-by-step guide for staff
moving residents’ bins from their properties to the waste vehicle. It is
however, covered under our manual handling risk assessment.
The risk assessment states “ Employees shall wheel the bin from the point
of collection to the rear of the vehicle considering, traffic,
underfoot/overhead conditions, and uneven surfaces. No employee shall
attempt to move a wheeled bin that is liable to cause injury”
All staff are given continuous mentoring and on the job training. Initial
training is given upon their induction by one of our trained refuse
supervisors on how to carry out all relevant parts of the service, and
whether it be taking the bins from a customer’s garden, or from the
kerbside, the same procedures should always be followed.
All refuse vehicles have onboard computer systems that log data regarding
assisted collections and should there be any issues this is flagged to
prevent a recurrence of missed collections.
If you are not satisfied with this response, you may contact the Council's
Legal and Governance Senior Manager seeking a review of your request
within 40 working days of receiving the response (the address is:
Clackmannanshire Council, Kilncraigs, Alloa, FK10 1EB, or reply to this

the right to appeal directly to the Scottish Information Commissioner,
