Waste bin replacement

The request was successful.

Dear Somerset Waste Partnership Joint Committee,

What happens to unserviceable wheelie bins that are replaced due to damage or breakages – such as hinge loss or wheel problems ?
We have just experienced a replacement bin and are concerned that our old bin (that would have been a simple repair) will end up in landfill
Yours faithfully,

Colin Paterson

Dear Colin,

Thank you for your email. I can confirm that old containers such as refuse containers, food caddies and recycling boxes are recycled. They get sent to the depot where they are repaired and re-used, the only containers that get sent to landfill are if they are taken to the recycling centre by a resident.

Kind Regards,
Caz Bartlett
