Dear Ms. Gill

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REF: 2013-232

I am responding to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000,
which we received 4 March 2013, for information held by the Council.

I apologise for the delay in responding.

Please can you provide me with the following information?

How many waste bins are there on the streets of Kensington and Chelsea?

Where exactly are the bins located? (please provide longitude and latitude
locations on an Excel spreadsheet.)

Spreadsheet attached there are an additional 80 fixed column mounted bins
located in Kensington High Street, Fulham Road, King’s Road, Hans
Crescent, Thurloe Place and Exhibition Road.

How many bins have been removed since January 2010 - January 2013?

We do not keep records of where bins are removed from because normally we
relocate them. However, bins do go missing between surveys and there were
approximately 45 bins missing between the 2010 survey and the 2012 one.

How many removed bins have been replaced since January 2010 – January 2013

No records of bin replacement of kept, damaged bins are replaced from
stock levels. A procurement programme is currently ongoing to replace all
out non fixed litter bin stock with a single design. The number of bins
will rely on the cost per unit.

How much does it cost to install a new bin?

Installation of bins is carried out by the contractor as part of the
contract cost. This does not include the cost of the bin and this is
subject the type of bin provided. The current cost for the range of bins
located on the Royal Borough’s Streets is between £110 and £1,500.

How many bins are removed as a result of criminal activity? Please specify
type

No bins have been removed.
