Warrington Dog Thefts
Dear Cheshire Constabulary,
I would like to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act (2000).
I would like to request information on the amount of reported dog thefts that you have received within the area of Warrington.
Could I please receive the amount of reported dog thefts:
Over the past 5 years, broken down by each year (2015 - 2020)
Each year of thefts to be broken down by specific breed of dog

OUR RESPONSE:
In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act, our response is as
follows:
The answer to your request is already available to you by other means and
is therefore exempt in accordance with Section 21 of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. See the following link for details:

You will need to scroll down to the Crimes heading and then click on the
Dog thefts links, we have the data for April 2015 – March 2020 available.
Once you have opened the spreadsheet, please click on the ‘Detail’ tab at
the bottom. Here you will find the locations and breeds.
Every effort is made to keep this information up to date, the remaining
data for 2020 has yet to be added to the scheme as it has yet to be fully
compiled. As there is an intention to publish this data it’s disclosure is
exempt under Section 22 of the act.
Whilst there is public interest in transparency and openness, hence the
publication of such information, there is no public interest in bringing
forward the publication of this information, necessitating the diversion
of resources from scheduled, equally useful and important duties.
If you are not satisfied with the decision applied in this case I enclose
for your attention a copy of the Constabulary's appeal procedures.
