Ward information

Katie M made this Freedom of Information request to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust,

Unable to find the information I was looking for in your Publications Scheme documents, I would like to know:

- for each of the following clinical services:
a. Cardiology
b. Stroke
c. Orthopaedics
d. Respiratory
e. Pulmonary
f. Renal
g. Urology
h. Diabetes

1. the names of the inpatient wards under each clinical service
2. the number of beds in each ward
3. average length of stay in each ward
4. approximate number of patients admitted annually to each ward (if information available)

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Katie Ma

FOIA (RTH) OUH,

Dear Katie,

I have looked at your request and I was wondering whether we can rephrase e.g.

1. We can list the wards per division and not per condition e.g. diabetes. I am inclined to opt for division (a) etc. to avoid wards being identified, which may lead to identifying where patients with abc condition may be found.

Regards,

Valerie Gray

Dear Valerie,

Thank you for your message, I appreciate the safeguarding of patients information I reassure you that my request would not pose an infringement in identifying individual patients. Some of the requested information is already available online (see below) however I am requesting up to date details for the listed specialties.

For example some information that is already publically available re point 1 and 2 of my request for respiratory wards:
- the OUH website outlines the inpatient respiratory ward to be 'Osler Chest Ward' (http://www.ouh.nhs.uk/services/referrals...)
- 20 inpatient beds in Geoffrey Harris Ward, Churchill hospital (from the Oxford Deanery website advertising the respiratory medicine training programme)

Point 3 - is the average length of stay so would not pose a risk in identifying current inpatients
Point 4 of my request is also cumulative data that would not identify patients.

If you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Many thanks.

Yours sincerely,

Katie M
